PURPOSE STATEMENT

ONYX Lone Star (OLS), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, is organized for the charitable and educational purposes of promoting public education and welfare for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) who identify as male within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Plus (LGBTQ+) community. OLS envisions a world where people are ensured equality and equity regardless of sexual identity, age, race, gender, ethnicity, culture, ability, and experiences.

 

ABOUT ONYX LONE STAR (OLS)

ONYX Lone Star is a regional chapter of The Men of ONYX , Inc. (ONYX), which is a National Organization. Our mission is the same as that of The Men of ONYX , Inc. and we hold true to the values and principles of the ONYX Men Code. 

 

The OLS chapter is centered in the Dallas, TX area and covers the entire state of Texas as well as Arkansas and Oklahoma. OLS has a longstanding reputation within our community of promoting respect, inclusivity, diversity, and safe spaces for all people to gather. In January 2017, five men in the Dallas Fort Worth area had their first official Meet and Greet at the Dallas Eagle. These charter members worked tirelessly to represent men of color in the region in a positive light. It was their goal to not only create safe spaces for the BIPOC LGBTQ+ community, but also positive representation. As a result of this hard work, the Lone Star chapter was ratified by vote in September 2017 at Blackout 22, in New Orleans, LA. This happened along with the Deep South and Northwest Chapters.

 

The initial Charter members of Onyx Lone Star were:

President: Apocalypse ONYX

Vice President: Kyng Zeus ONYX

Pledge Master: Unbreakable ONYX

Secretary: General Zod ONYX

Treasurer: J Assassin ONYX

Road Captain: Shaka Zulu ONYX

 

The first group of Brothers were officially inducted into the Onyx Lone Star (OLS) chapter because of the instruction of Kyng Zeus ONYX. They included Kyng Zeus ONYX (transferred as an Associate Member from the Chicago/Midwest Chapter), General Zod ONYX, Kyng Leonydas ONYX, Muhammad Akbar ONYX, Xerses The Great ONYX, Ramses ONYX, Ghengis Khan ONYX and Shaka Zulu ONYX. Ramses ONYX was added to the board as the Sargent at Arms.

 

That core group of members continued the mission to increase the visibility of the chapter, forging partnerships, fundraising, and outreach projects.

 

Although board positions continued to shift, the first elections were held in December of 2019. The first elected board was installed the following January of 2020. The results were:
